Agatha Ruiz de la Prada presented “Color Prints”, a collection that encourages playfulness, pleasure, comfort, clothing recycling and contemporary thinking – in short, the ideology that Agatha Ruiz de la Prada has presented every season since the beginning. It’s a collection for a woman with complete freedom.

Mercedes Fashion Week Madrid Otoño/Invierno 2014-2015

In Agatha Ruiz de la Prada’s design, one constant remains unchanged. Ever since her first fashion show in 1980, contemporary art has been the basic reference point. Not only for the conceptualization of ideas, essential to all her creations, but above all because she has been able to transpose it to the world of clothing through shapes, materials, color and the use of her now classic icons, with this play of lack/excess of meaning. This is reflected in the use of graphics, which, almost ubiquitously, apply to all branches of its design. The first, of course, is textile printing.

This Fall-Winter 2014-15 season, prints were the inspirational source for the collection. Graphic, polka-dotted, striped or with hearts, these prints are childlike and as colorful as you could wish for original, quirky and trendy pieces, totally in keeping with the designer’s spirit.

Fuchsia, the house’s signature color, remains the common thread this season through garments and fun accessories. Transparent shoes, for example, take on the color of stockings, but contrast or blend with the pink patent leather wedges that serve as their base. Bags with transparent windows or funny wigs, handmade by Free Style for Agatha Ruiz de la Prada.
