For this new spring-summer 2014 collection, Acne Studios artistic director Jonny Johansson wanted to return to the brand’s genesis. Rediscover its roots with creations inspired by the sea and its universe.
Jonny Johansson wanted to revisit a famous Swedish opera song “Till Hays” (to the sea) written by Jussi Björling. This song describes the different moods of the sea and provides the inspiration for this collection. Water and music, how two building blocks.
Marine references abound in this collection, which has been crafted mainly from natural materials such as cotton twill and leather. Leather jackets are simply perforated and cut with a knife. White predominates, enhanced by light blue, bright yellow, red and navy. Prints featurea series of deep saturated tones, inspired by the textures of the sea, assembled like a patchwork quilt. Bronze and silver jewels inspired by seafaring objects brighten up these immaculate, minimalist silhouettes, creating another successful Acne Studios spring-summer collection: simple, pure and poetic, like the sea.
