It is under the splendid light of the glass roof of the Commines space, and in a retro and lively musical atmosphere, that Petar Petrov presented his men’s Spring-Summer 2011 collection.
The Petar Petrov man 2011 will be above all smiling and elegant in all circumstances. His wardrobe will go from pinch pants to shorts in all sobriety, almost always accompanied by plain T-shirts. He favors long suit silhouettes where the one-button jacket and pinched pants combination rhymes soberly with a plain tee-shirt or can stand on its own for a most detonating effect. Many silhouettes will be shirtless for a man assuming his body.
The Bulgarian designer offers a collection in traditional appearance, with minimalist cuts mastered in which he highlights the shorts. But this is only an appearance as he has punctuated his collection with small original touches, thus anchoring his man fully in his time. The clothes are made of waxed or treated cotton and sometimes have a crumpled appearance.
The jackets are worn either buttoned or belted, the designer having replaced the single button with an interior fastening system. Petar Petrov also multiplies the superimpositions, the shirts are worn under other shirts with a wider cut. The mini shirt can be worn on top of a shirt or directly on the skin. Windbreakers and other mid-season parkas are also present and can be worn over jackets and pants and plain tee-shirt sets.
The T-shirt can be worn under a jacket or under a button-down shirt. Mostly short-sleeved, it will be presented in long sleeves without jackets to accompany the ubiquitous shorts. It is subtly two-tone with a small band of discreet color on the bottom of the shirt or sleeves of another color close to the original as in this model wine-lime.
We find here and there some cords so dear to the Bulgarian designer. The casual trench coat with a crumpled look becomes terribly distinguished when worn next to the skin like a shirt. Jeans in sky blue are worn with a small lapel and have no better accompaniment than the famous plain tee.
In terms of colors, once again classicism prevails. The navy blue is very present in worthy replacement of black and rubs models tinted with soft colors mostly in pastel shades, the sand combines with the sky blue when it will not unite with stronger colors such as the wine lees or red.
The Petar Petrov man for Spring-Summer 2011 will be elegant and sober. Falsely conventional, the small details of his wardrobe make him a man fully anchored in his time, at ease in his wardrobe and with his body. He is a man who is not who he seems to be, on the contrary, he is better than that.
