Simon Porte Jacquemus, 23, presented his latest collection entitled “La Grande Motte” on Monday. With a style inspired by Courrèges and Martin Margiela, Jacquemus’ creations demonstrate his mastery of the minimalist, streamlined cut.
His first show plunged guests into darkness, who lit up the models themselves with flashlights, then invited his audience around La Piscine for the second. This season, Jacquemus presents its collection in an arcade on the Grands Boulevards, blending naiveté and pop culture with a soundtrack by Jean-Jacques Perrey and Air.
Shod in white Spring Court, Jacquemus’ girls, most of whom are his own friends, were dressed in sunny pieces, evoking the architecture of the futuristic seaside resort. A girl who spends her summer in La Grande Motte selling ice cream and sports “J’aime la vie” on her top, an ultra-positive wave.
Bravo Jacquemus!
