From September 19 to 22, 2013, the Beirut Art Fair opens its doors for a fourth edition at Beirut’s Biel. A must-attend cultural event today to discover the multiplicity of artists and gallerists from the regions of the Levant.

An international contemporary art fair, Beirut Art Fair has focused primarily on the Middle East since its launch in 2010, while welcoming an increasing number of Asian artists and gallerists. Indeed, Asian artists and gallerists seem to be a great success with the Lebanese public, and are increasingly making their mark on the art market: according to the annual Art Price report, “Asia accounts for 43% of the revenue from contemporary art sales, compared with just under 30% in Europe”. In fact, Beirut Art Fair is going Asian in 2013. and marks a new stage in the fair’s development with the inauguration of a Pavilion. An initiative directly linked to the creation of SINGAPORE ART FAIR, to be held from November 27 to 30, 2014 in Suntec City.

The Asian Pavilion, also known as “Perspective Collective”, is entirely coordinated by renowned gallery owner and curator Richard Koh, who, through the presentation of some twenty Asian artists, seeks to reveal to the public the incredible variety of artistic practices in this region, despite a strong common identity. According to Koh, “[…] it is quite surprising to find that Asian practices are often similar, without however erasing the particularities linked to their cultural roots, which are part of their identity”.
