Wooyoungmi was one of our favorites last season. What’s not to love about this designer who has understood everything there is to know about menswear?
Incredible casting for an incredible fashion show, that’s what we witnessed at Wooyoungmi.
The colors are bright, as if at a party, at Wooyoungmi. Mustard in full-look, the Korean designer dares. She captures the essence of the season’s major trends in her men’s collection, exploring many avenues without ever spreading herself too thin or getting lost.
Organic tones, gray and burgundy are also noteworthy.
As you can see, Wooyoungmi is all about mixing materials: leather can be found everywhere, giving structure to silhouettes and a perfect finish to coats when used on collars.
Beyond the broad guidelines, what’s striking about this collection is the perfect mastery that runs through the many details. Leather is diversified and worked in different ways. Velvet joins wool on sweaters, and emerald green, Pantone’s trend for the coming season, is administered without excess. Color blocking without being clownish. This is where the designer’s finesse lies: she creates strong, striking and innovative looks without being ostentatious or ridiculous. And that’s what we can only admire and adore.
