London College of Fashion MA 2012 Show

Last week, in the stunning surroundings of the Raphael Gallery at the V&A London College of Fashion held its annual MA Catwalk Show 2012 in front of a packed audience including the Rt Hon Home Secretary Theresa May MP. Beamed live to thousands all over the world by award winning website Not Just A Label and the LCF website, this years’ talented crop of menswear and womenswear designers took to the catwalk – all vying for Collection of the Year.

As well as the Rt Hon Home Secretary Theresa May MP, the front row was packed with industry insiders, celebrities and VIPs including, DJ Jodie Harsh, rising star singer Ren Harvieu, Mollie King from girl group The Saturdays, Turner prize winning artist Grayson Perry, Chairman of the British Fashion Council Harold Tillman CBE, Made in Chelsea star Francis Boulle, designer Hasan Hejazi, fashion illustrator David Downton, band members from Niki & The Dove and the beautiful Lauren Laverne, who also announced the evenings two awards alongside award winning fashion designer Christopher Raeburn.

At the end of the catwalk presentation TV and radio personality Lauren Laverne hosted the presentation of Womenswear: Collection of the Year and Menswear Collection of the Year.

With the help of young British designer Christopher Raeburn, recent winner of the British Fashion Council’s award for best ‘Emerging Talent – Menswear,’ they both announced that the winner of Menswear: Collection of the Year was TINA ELISABETH REITER (27) whose modern, fresh and innovative menswear collection was inspired by her Austrian heritage.

The winner of Womenswear: Collection of the Year was HANA CHA (26) from Seoul in South Korea, who produced a show stopping collection of exquisite womenswear featuring luxurious golds and purples and hours of painstaking hand embroidery.

The LCF MA show has gained a strong reputation for launching careers and the class of 2012 have already made waves!

Shaftesbury PLC, a long term LCF partner who helped make LCF’s first ever pop up shop ‘COLLEGE SHOP’ possible, were so impressed by the show that they have committed to a brand new scholarship to nurture new talent. The Shaftesbury MA Scholarship will run from 2012-14 inclusive and will be open to all those studying for an MA at London College of Fashion.
