Morabito Paris – French know-how

Luxsure recently visited the workshop of Morabito Paris, a luxury leather goods brand.

It all began in Nice in 1905, when Jean-Baptiste Morabito opened his first jewelry boutique. Ideally placed on the Côte d’Azur, the store attracted celebrities, who began to place special orders with the jeweler.

Maria Callas ordered a bag named the Traviata, with a lyre-shaped handle and acorn clasp, the singer’s lucky charm. Marilyn Monroe, meanwhile, requested a bag for her beauty products. The Orsay was born, and went on to become one of the brand’s iconic models.

Morabito is a jeweler’s savoir-faire, with gold or palladium plated finishes, and an incomparable leather goods heritage. The Morabito Paris bag range is divided into two branches: one, the diffusion line, includes bags from the permanent collections, available immediately; the other, the signature line, is entirely handmade and made-to-measure for customers, who can choose their model, leather and colors, subject, of course, to feasibility. The lead time is three to six months for these models, which are entirely hand-stitched by our leather craftsmen.

In the Morabito Paris workshops, Luxsure discovered how the brand’s bags are assembled. The leather is cut entirely by hand according to the patterns available for each model. The pieces are then sewn together by hand, making each stitch independent. So, if one stitch is cut, the others will not move. Each bag is fully lined with leather, which represents 25 to 30 hours of work!

Here are a few photos taken at the Morabito Paris workshop and showroom!
