Kym Ellery is an Australian designer who studied at the renowned Central Saint Martins School of Fashion. She launched her label in 2007, was a finalist in the Quantas Youth Awards in 2008 and won Designer of the Year at the Woolmark Award in 2010.

A Paris premiere for the designer, who presented her Spring/Summer 2014 collection at Fashion Week last week. A collection of dynamic, sophisticated creations, inspired by the world of interior architecture and 70s collages. Noble textures like light silk organza mingle with striped gauze, grained lamé, frothy satin and sequins on hand-sewn fishnet. Black and white predominate, joined by burgundy, garnet, pale flesh and metallic touches.

The strapless dress is king, Ellery’s signature model. Fluidity is everywhere, blowing away the feminine-masculine. Ruffled shirts, extravagant sleeves and oversized garments embellish this minimalist, no-holds-barred collection. A spring-summer collection where elegance is structured and softened. Let’s hope these first steps on the French catwalk herald many more to come.
