Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve, Josephine Baker, Marlene Dietrich, Jackie Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Carla Bruni and Ines De La Fressange. Iconic names, you might say, style icons who have all slipped their feet into a pair of Roger Vivier shoes.

The story of Roger Vivier will be told at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris from October 2 to November 18. A retrospective of the House of Roger Vivier, in celebration of its eponymous founder and fashion icon. Nearly 140 shoe models retrace the career of Roger Vivier, more inventor than shoemaker, which began in the 1930s. The exhibition is like a museum dedicated to footwear, in the style of a Louvre or Prado inspired by Roger Vivier. A journey through the Vivier universe, with shoes as sculpture.

These shoes and accessories are drawn from the company’s archives, along with loans from the world’s leading private and public institutions: the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York, the BATA Shoes Museum in Toronto, the Musée de la chaussure in Romans and the Palais Galliera, the fashion museum of the City of Paris.

Under the impetus of new Artistic Director Bruno Frisoni in 2002, the House of Roger Vivier perpetuates its standing and unique worldwide reputation. By respecting the Roger Vivier codes and adding creativity and modernity, he transformed the brand into a luxury accessories house, a true symbol of Parisian chic embodied by its charming ambassador, Inès de la Fressange. With ingenuity and mischief, Bruno Frisoni sketches new lines and shapes, playing with the Virgule heel in particular, which he establishes as a real punctuation mark in his creations.
