Charlie Le Mindu, a native of Aquitaine, has been hair-obsessed since he was a kid, and it obviously runs in the family.

HAIRDRESSING SESSION FOR MAEVA MELINE BY CHARLIE LE MINDU ON THE THEME OF RAIPONCE

By the age of 3, he was already playing in the family home with the wigs of his grandmother, who ran a hairdressing salon at the time. It wasn’t long before he joined her and got his hands dirty (well, mostly in the hair!). A few years later, he went to work in a punk salon in Bordeaux, and thus began the eccentricity that quickly became his signature look.

It was his London adventure that really reawakened him. Just 20 years old, he began by designing his own wigs, before finally opening his very first hair salon – the beginning of his fame.

This capillary genius then began to be mobbed by celebrities from all over the world, including Lady Gaga, Florence And The Machine, MGMT, and that was just the beginning of a never-ending list.

With Charlie, the term Haute Coiffure takes on its full meaning. Excessive, provocative and stylish. But always lots and lots and lots of hair. And 100% natural, too! He quickly became the new Haute Couture hairstylist that all the stars were clamoring for, and he made no secret of his claim to the title during his wacky runway shows featuring wigs and hairy dresses.

Charlie le mindu, 2010 fashion show

An exciting show, with obvious punk influences, which is to be expected from the most English of French designers!

The 4th hairstyle, “the balaclava hairstyle”, is the one that revealed Charlie. Made of rat and mouse hairs, it caused quite a stir in England.

An exceptional presentation for Galleries Lafayettes, with a touch of African ritual.

Charlie le mindu, film

Finally, a short film directed by Chris Sweeney, a London-based art director who has worked for Friendly Fires, Will Young, Marina and the Diamonds, and foals.
