A native of Provence, France, young Simon Porte launched his own fashion label, Jacquemus, in 2009. His first collection, entitled “L’hiver Froid” and embodied by it-girl Jeanne Damas, received critical acclaim. The young self-taught designer offers a pure, clean-lined style that draws on the imagery of the 90s. The Jacquemus girl is a girl of the moment, halfway between Charlotte Gainsbourg in L’Effrontée and Lio singing “Banana Split”.
Jacquemus’ Fall Winter 13-14 collection “La Piscine” is inspired by Jacques Deray’s famous film with a nod to actress Isabelle Adjani. Navy blue is adorned with white stripes and hints of dark red punctuate the collection. Laser-cut wool dresses alternate with impeccably tailored suits and generously sized dresses.
The brand is sold at Dover Street Market in London, Tokyo, Opening Ceremony New York and Los Angeles, and The broken Arm in Paris.
