SECRET TREASURES by Swarovski Fall-Winter Collection 2013/14

A few days ago, we discovered the brand-new Swarovski collection.
For Autumn-Winter 2013/14, Nathalie Colin has created a collection entitled “Secret Treasures”. Inspired by the Silk Road, the collection revolves around four legendary destinations, each harboring treasures of craftsmanship, tradition and beauty. From China to the Himalayas, from India to Venice, Secret Treasures revisits emblematic elements with a skilful blend of modernity and refinement. “Strongly influenced by my travels in Asia, China, the Himalayas and India, I have a special connection with the inspiration for this collection. A great admirer of the explorer Alexandra David Neel, I imagined a journey across continents and mountains transposed to our own time,” says Artistic Director Nathalie Colin. Swarovski demonstrates its mastery of crystal cutting and jewelry techniques. Crystal settings, Pointiage®, pavages and embroideries feature cut crystals, Crystal Mesh and Crystal Rock, creating a perfect blend of heritage and innovation.
Swarovski has focused on the symbolism of yin and yang in China, illustrated by the theme “Stone”. At once luscious and refined, it features a sensual curvature rendered ultra-bright by crystal pavé work. Inspired by Chinese costume trimmings, the “Valour” line is surprisingly supple. The microfiber frames are delicately embroidered with crystal stones, while a faceted maxi crystal takes center stage. The earrings, also maxi, with their harmonious, feminine lines, illuminate the face with a dark, bewitching charm.
The Himalayas are a majestic natural setting. Mountains, forests and glaciers lend a mineral imprint to creations with organic lines, of which the “Vita” theme is a perfect example. Cut as a cabochon, the central crystal’s contours are illuminated by small tone-on-tone crystals set by hand using the Pointiage® technique. “Vita” takes on frosty winter hues and lends itself to versatile wear, from the sharpest to the most classic.

A profusion of colors, silks with a thousand and one reflections, rich golds, the magic of precious stones: the Indian influence adds its ornamental and exuberant touch. By inviting the talented Shourouk to design some of the collection’s pieces, Nathalie Colin signs a new fashion collaboration. Familiar with Swarovski crystals from her own creations, Shourouk has imagined Swarovski by
Shourouk, an imposing yet supple necklace mounted on a cord. Like a crystal-embroidered breastplate, this necklace sophisticates any outfit, day or evening.

Venetian inspiration lends a mysterious, baroque veil to these ultra-refined rooms. We’re reminded of the splendor of palaces and colors veiled in mist. The “Venezie” theme focuses on opulence, with a wide rose-gold-plated metal cuff richly adorned with a bluish crystal cabochon, pearls and baguette crystals. In an interlacing of black PVD chains, the Vermeil theme adorns the wrist with strong, graphic modern lace. In the center, a large cabochon entirely covered with hand-set crystals catches the eye, while other crystal ornaments add elegant gold accents.

From purity to exuberance, the Secret Treasures collection delivers a range of proposals that allow women to play with their accessories for special occasions or, on the contrary, on a more everyday basis. “Today, adaptability is key, and accessories must be versatile. This principle guides us in the creation of our jewelry and accessories, so that they accompany women at all times”, comments Nathalie Colin. In a winter palette warmed by bursts of color, the collection confirms Swarovski’s immoderate taste for precision, renewal, modernity and refinement.
