To mark the forthcoming launch of its silver jewelry collection, Hermès has teamed up with English artists United Visual Artists to produce the technico-graphic film “The Sound of Hermès Silver”.

What if money had a sound?

It was around this simple idea that DAN Paris orchestrated the video “The Sound of Hermès Silver”.

Silver jewels from the Hermès collection are placed on 16 metal plates, each driven by a meticulously crafted gear mechanism. Lasers scan each one to trigger its sound, composing an experimental symphony.

British design collective United Visual Artists created this installation capable of “playing” the sound of money.

With YoggyOne at the turntables, each sound created is an interpretation of the silver coins, influenced by their shape, density, volume and weight.

Director Caswell Coggins, who draws on his experience making music videos and documentaries, delivers a stunning narrative. Filmed in 35mm, the installation comes to life through deep blacks and bright whites.

A true exercise in style, “The Sound Of Hermès Silver” marks the meeting of precious materials and artistic performance.

And the Hermès collection?
Its roots plunge into the ocean. From the heavy links forged to face the sea to those of the elegant jewel, the story of the Chaîne d’ancre is one of detour. The story begins in 1938. Seventy-five years later, the Chaîne d’ancre, now a totem, chooses to tie up in tight rows. Its machined, polished, beaded and twisted links are multiplied into bracelets, necklaces, sautoirs and earrings. Unique, the Chaine d’ancre sublimates silver jewelry.
