Just 15 minutes from Paris, the Étangs de Corot are home to a chic guinguette: Les Paillotes. Nestled in a green setting, this restaurant is an ideal summer spot. A change of scenery guaranteed!

Les Paillotes des Etangs de Corot revisit the atypical terraces of the early 20th century, forming a guinguette originally built on stilts. With a sublime view over the ponds that so inspired the Impressionist painters, including Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot.

The chef is Rémi Chambard. The relatively limited choice on the menu makes it hard to make up one’s mind. For starters, we hesitate between Foie Gras, pea and mint gazpacho… In the end, we opt for a “Burrata” with olive oil and eggplant caviar. A happy marriage with truly milky mozzarella.

For the main course, choose a fillet of beef with Anna apples. Accompanied by a glass of Hauts de Smith, the food/wine pairing is perfect. The only (small) disappointment was the dessert: the strawberries with Isigny cream and cookies didn’t charm us.

Les Paillotes are open from Thursday evening to Sunday lunchtime.
