On July 3, 2013, the Yann le Mouël auction house at Drouot Paris is organizing an auction dedicated to photography as part of the Rencontres d’Arles, the annual summer photography festival. A not-to-be-missed event where DROUOT LIVE will also be present.

For this 43rd edition of Les Rencontres d’Arles, the town will host a unique selection of photos for auction on July 3, 2013, carefully selected by auction house Yann Le Mouël, and gallery owners Marion and Philippe Jacquier of Galerie Lumière des Roses. Singular images, they are part of an atypical collection bringing together a fertile field of anonymous photography as well as some big names. An original way of giving the viewer the chance to recognize the images for their intrinsic value and evocative power, rather than for their signature.
At this auction, visitors and photography enthusiasts will be able to appreciate a first series devoted to the prestigious sites of the Arles region, photographed by both anonymous photographers and renowned professionals such as Edouard Baldus. A series of nudes and portraits will also be presented, as well as a number of anonymous photos dedicated to twentieth-century painters. Nature will also be present, through reportages (André Zucca, René Jacques) and studies such as Denis Brihat’s in a naturalist register, not forgetting an interesting series devoted to the theme of vanities. Finally, architecture and celebrities will be in the spotlight, with, for example, a 1957 portrait of James Dean by Sanford H. Roth, estimated at between €400 and €600.
