Discovering the Alfa Romeo 4C

Unveiled at the last Geneva International Motor Show, the Alfa Romeo 4C made its mark by faithfully reproducing the aesthetic and technical choices of the Concept presented two years earlier. This compact “supercar” symbolizes the essence of sportiness according to Alfa Romeo, and highlights the Brand’s values of performance, Italian style and technical excellence, for maximum driving pleasure in complete safety.

The Alfa Romeo 4C has been designed by Alfa Romeo engineers and will be produced at the Maserati plant in Modena. This new compact super sports car will go on sale during 2013, with the first deliveries in the third quarter, and will mark the Italian Marque’s return to the United States, marking the start of Alfa Romeo’s global growth plan.

The 4C draws its inspiration from the Marque’s glorious past, the 8C and 6C acronyms having distinguished both competition and road cars in the thirties and forties. In its design and construction, it also confirms the objective of achieving a power-to-weight ratio of less than 4 kg/hp, worthy of a genuine sports car, with the emphasis on low weight rather than high power to guarantee maximum agility and top-level performance. It uses carbon fiber and aluminum. It also features Alfa Romeo’s latest technologies, such as the new 1750 turbo engine with 240 hp direct petrol injection, the Alfa TCT dual-clutch transmission and the D.N.A. selector with its brand-new “race” mode.

Designed by the Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, the 4C is immediately reminiscent of certain key icons of the Marque au Biscione. In particular, with its similar dimensions and design, the 4C is undeniably reminiscent of the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. The compact dimensions of this “two-seater” make it quite simply unique in the automotive landscape: length just under 4 meters, width 2.00 meters and height limited to 1.18 meters for a wheelbase of less than 2.4 meters.

We had the pleasure of discovering this new car during a party at MotorVillage, and here are a few images.
