The fall/winter 2013/2014 collection is the second in Azzaro’s new artistic direction. Highly chic and reminiscent of Hollywood glamour in its heyday, the clothes combine jewels and sexy cuts, transporting us back to an era when clothing was first and foremost a form of pomp and an object of seduction.
The color palette is dark, and there should be no competition between the crystals used on the garments, the cuts and the garish colors. So Azzaro opts for finesse and good taste, rather than showiness and arrogance.
The long silk dresses have sublime silhouettes, and the richness of the design comes from the jewel-encrusted details of the bare back. Subtlety at its finest.
Jewelry can be found in many places on garments: on a dress, it decorates; on a sweater or pullover dress, it adds structure, as it’s on the side buttons; on a fur coat, it’s discreet. Azzaro also chooses to blur the boundaries between daywear and eveningwear, and the addition of jewels makes a strong contribution to this.
There are also accessories in this collection, as versatile as the clothes. The leather goods and leather pieces are of excellent quality (the softness of the suede on the shoes…..un régal!) and the jewelry echoes that found on the clothes.
