PUMA by HUSSEIN CHALAYAN – SPRING/SUMMER 2013 Collection

THE GREAT BRITISH SPACES.

There’s Glastonbury. There’s Cornwall. There’s Piccadilly. It’s somewhere in the middle of all these spaces that Hussein Chalayan’s rebellion is best expressed. The wide-open spaces of Britain are a dual realm of countryside and city, where he invents the rawest, simplest design solutions inspired by outdoor recreation.

This season, the Spring Summer 2013 collection is lighter and airier. It adopts a practical style: it’s all too advisable to equip yourself properly to facilitate even the most daring explorations. The models are technical (directly inspired by the structure, composition and fastenings of pylons) and autonomous, with clever cuts (constructions and configurations taken straight from those of camping tents). Materials are sophisticated. Lines are pure. Finishes are lenticular, almost holographic.

The collection displays a new, more functional dress code for city dwellers who love the great outdoors. It’s social and curious, brazenly inspired by the countryside and the city, yet refusing to submit to either, true to the Chalayan spirit.
