Breathtaking refinement: Oris Calobra Limited Edition
Calobra is a small Spanish village about 50 kilometers from Palma de Mallorca. The picturesque landscape is renowned for its winding roads, with breathtaking curves such as the breathtaking “Nus de sa Corbata” or “Tie Knot”. It is in this little paradise for experienced drivers that the “Rally Clásico Isla Mallorca” is organized. Oris is proud to be the watchmaking partner and official sponsor of the 9th Rally Clásico Isla Mallorca, which takes place from March 14 to 16, 2013.
Since 2005, the Rally Clásico Isla Mallorca has taken up residence in the Calobra region. The impressive 14-kilometer course, most of which consists of “hairpin” bends, also features a 900-meter vertical drop.
To celebrate this new edition of the rally sponsored by Oris and renamed “Oris Rally Clásico Isla Mallorca” for the occasion, the Swiss watchmaker presents the Oris Calobra limited edition. Inspired by the legendary cars that take part in the race, this new timepiece is closely linked to the world of motorsport.
The multi-piece stainless steel case features a bi-directional ceramic rotating bezel with a rubber-coated edge for a better grip. The matte silvered flange, with tachymeter scale, is attached directly to the case.
The two-piece black matte dial in “dashboard” style, with contrasting Arabic numerals,
displays a linear small seconds at 9 o’clock, complementing the time indication provided by hour and minute hands with
Superluminova inserts. Dedicated to the chronograph function, the red and black hands are inspired by motorsport.
Paying homage to the “Oris Rally Clásico Isla Mallorca” race, the back of this limited edition features an exclusive engraving of the famous “tie knot” symbolizing the devilish bends in the roads around Calobra. The black and red perforated leather strap recalls the world of the cars taking part in the rally.
Issued in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces, the Oris Calobra embodies the spirit of classic car racing in style. The timepiece is presented in a special case, which includes an additional rubber strap and an easy-to-change tool.
