image002May 14th, 4.40pm. A prominent man is asked to get off a scheduled flight to Paris. Accused of a sordid crime involving sex and power, he has no idea that his entire life will be dissected, analyzed and commented on in minute detail.

February 21, 10 a.m. Barely a year later, he was taken into custody in France on suspicion of aggravated pimping in an organized gang. His line of defense is clear: all the girls are his girlfriends, consenting to sex with other friends. His friends? The press knows them: other notables, lawyers, businessmen, sometimes belonging to the same lodges.

Angela BEHELLE saw, in a matter of days, in a matter of weeks, the obvious solution to that mysterious article in the Nouvel Obs which had literally fascinated her. In a private apartment, easy girls and notables talk in hushed tones, then there’s an enormous silence… “We’re waiting for the Minister”. Angela BEHELLE has been obsessed with this reading since 2003. What could be this near-perfect network in France that would enable notables to satisfy their urges while guaranteeing them perfect discretion and absolute protection?
La Société is born. A very French saga, Volume 3 of which has just been published by La Bourdonnaye – Édition numérique. Each volume in the series has been hailed by the best of critics: readers of literary blogs (Babelio, Goodreads, Booknode, Boulevard des passions, Actualitte.com, etc.).

Just when you thought Anglo-Saxon women were the undisputed masters of “porno chic” or “soft BDSM”, a French author turns conventional wisdom on its head with a very specific scenario. According to Benoît de la Bourdonnaye, director of the eponymous publishing house, La Société will be a ten-volume saga that will take readers on a journey of discovery of the network, its secrets and its turpitudes, but each opus will be a real novel with a different, complete story each time.

Volume 1, “Qui de nous deux?” takes us into the world of schooling and introduces us to Henri Valmur, whose widow learns that the Company knows how to be persuasive when it’s determined. Volume 2, “Mission Azerty”, takes young Mina, a journalism student, to meet Paul Peyriac, publishing magnate, friend of Henri Valmur and co-founder of the Society. In volume 3, Angela BEHELLE sheds light on the Society’s reactivity when one of its members puts it in danger.
This success, which continues with each new issue, is undoubtedly due to the final surprise effect of each scenario, but also to the author’s determination never to fall into vulgarity or degrade the image of women.

Angela BEHELLE explains: “In most of the novels I’ve read, under the guise of eroticism-BDSM or soft pornography-the woman is always presented as having a chickpea in her brain, with obedience as her sole objective, often leading to physical or moral degradation. Women readers appreciate my different stories, as they always reveal surprising endings. The title of my first tome, “Qui de nous deux?” is by no means innocent in the aperitif of this series, which I wanted to be luxurious, Parisian and refined…”

With each addictive read, the nagging question of the very existence of this Society comes up again and again. The symbol of membership, an Omega-shaped badge, is even demanded on social networks for access to hairdresser Bertrand, beautician Jill or even Madame Jeanne’s coveted shop….
What woman doesn’t dream of being pampered, given a makeover, adorned with jewels from the most beautiful place in Paris adorning haute couture gowns? Especially if, at checkout, she hears: “No, no, please, everything’s fine. Have a wonderful day, Madame…”

Angela BEHELLE has created her own little French universe, and readers are in for a treat. The “French touch” is always on the right side of the Atlantic…

Angela Behelle, author
Every woman lives several lives at once. In turn a daughter, a friend, a sister, a mother, a companion, she is, depending on the moment, a teacher, a nurse, a housewife, a mother… a lover.
Behind the smooth facade of an almost banal everyday life, the other woman often lurks, the one in the shadows, the one in the night, the one who dreams, the one who fantasizes… the one who loves.
It’s this woman that I’ve chosen to reveal by writing stories that stir the imagination, awaken the senses and inspire the desire to make dreams come true.
For all those who don’t dare, for those who don’t know, for those who already know or for those who are still trying to understand.
No matter who I really am, I’m a woman like all the others, quiet and wise… in appearance.
