SOFITEL LUXURY HOTELS ENTRUSTS KARL LAGERFELD WITH THE CREATION OF THE EMBLEM FOR THE NEW SOFITEL SO SINGAPORE
Karl Lagerfeld
As part of its major expansion in Asia and the opening next autumn of a Sofitel So in Singapore, Sofitel Luxury Hotels has entrusted Karl Lagerfeld with the creation of the emblem for the new Sofitel So Singapore. The emblem will symbolize the unique and innovative character of Sofitel So Singapore, and will be used on a range of exclusive objects available to guests during their stay.

Karl Lagerfeld, luxury icon
Designer, photographer, editor, illustrator, director, Karl Lagerfeld has created a world where every line is perfectly mastered and every detail is important.
” I am very proud to announce this precious collaboration, which perfectly embodies Sofitel Luxury’s ambitions for excellence and elegance,” said Robert Gaymer-Jones, CEO of Sofitel Luxury. “His exceptional talent and creativity will bring the ultimate touch of refinement to our emblem and further enhance our concept.”

The Sofitel So label
Founded on the reputation of Sofitel Luxury Hotels and its unique identity, a subtle blend of French luxury and the best of local culture, Sofitel So is the new boutique hotel designer label embodying an ultra-contemporary style in trendy destinations.
The chic, contemporary design of Sofitel So is the result of combining Sofitel’s famous “art de vivre” with the signature of an internationally renowned designer from the world of art or fashion. It reflects and enhances the very essence of the destination. Kenzo Takada was artistic director of Sofitel So Mauritius, and Christian Lacroix lent his signature to Sofitel So Bangkok.
Sofitel So Singapore is the third hotel to be added to the portfolio of this rapidly expanding label around the world. Other addresses are due to open shortly in Mumbai, Rio and Sydney.

Sofitel So Singapore in a nutshell
Built in 1927, this legendary building at 35 Robinson Road was, until 1992, the headquarters of the Post and Telecommunications Office. The 5-star establishment has retained its neo-classical façade and several adjoining structures, while a new 5-storey wing is currently under construction at the rear of the building. With one of the capital’s most prestigious addresses, right in the heart of a dynamic, bustling city, Sofitel So Singapore is just a few minutes from the main monuments. This luxury establishment offers 134 rooms, including 23 suites. Each room is uniquely decorated, reflecting the modernity of Singapore while retaining the authenticity of the historic building. This reinforces the hotel’s aim to appeal to business and leisure guests seeking the very best in luxury, culture and comfort.
This property, which has been owned by Royal Group Holdings since 2011, is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in mid-2013.
” This exceptional collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld, who signs the design of the Sofitel So Singapore emblem, was an obvious choice that should enable us to pay tribute to this iconic building,” said Bobby Hiranandani, Managing Director of Royal Group Holdings. “We are confident that this unprecedented partnership will galvanize the success of this luxury boutique hotel and offer our guests an exceptional experience and welcome in true Sofitel style.”
