3.1 Phillip Lim Menswear Autumn Winter 2013/2014

A favorite of the most discerning fashion folk for the simple reason that his understanding of clothing and the range of his inspirations are infinite, 3.1 Phillip Lim was the first to open the ball on this second day of menswear shows.

Once again at the Palais de Tokyo, the designer chose to honor the café racer movement, a counterculture of motorcyclists from the 60s distinguished by their retro style, their lifestyle unattached to anything but rockabilly music and the open road.

Opening the show with black nubuck looks in geometric shapes, 3.1 Phillip Lim captured the spirit of a special kind of biker. Dark shades such as black and gray accompany these rocker looks, but not without a touch of intelligence that is the signature of 3.1 Phillip Lim clothing. We see jackets where the leather is worked in a way reminiscent of sweater knits, nuancing the somewhat raw look of the inspirations and softening it without losing its original cachet.

Stripes and hues reminiscent of nature come to the fore, with nubuck strips used in patchwork imitating military prints, but also in stripes. Zips, which were already present last season, are still in evidence, as the theme of this collection lends itself to them.
