Some showrooms are fortunate enough to contain more treasures than others, and from the title alone, I don’t think there’s any denying that a visit to this showroom was a treasure in itself.
Starting with Isabel Marant, with her colorful pieces in black, white and red, and prints that resemble the “paisley print” found on antique scarves. Pieces adorned with pearls are also marvels of technique and good taste.
We move on to Maiyet, with fairly basic shades: white, khaki, various shades of blue such as cerulean and turquoise, the use of silk is divine and the perforated sweaters genius ideas.
Thierry Mugler, beloved house of Lady GaGa among others, needs no introduction. This season, leather work is in the spotlight, with interwoven leather bands on skirts and dresses. The lines are pure and the shades surprising: verdigris, yellow, beige and anthracite blend together for a resolutely sophisticated palette.
Balmain and its creations, all cut-outs and pearls, yellow, white and black, take pride of place on geometries so typical of the house but so sublime.
CARVEN’s spring-summer man has a taste for kitsch and the 90s. In his case, we won’t hesitate to find oversized tie-and-dye sweaters and colors reminiscent of this period (with the logo on the chest that looks just right).
Alexander McQueen: majestic, spectacular, revolutionary McQueen, where the volume of the creations is matched only by the ego of the ladies who dare to wear these armored garments, protecting a world of dreams and fantasy from the outside world.
Anthony Vaccarello and his smart zippers. Unlike some designers, Vaccarello shows us that zippers can be chic if they’re used wisely and give coherence to the garment (here, mixed with drapes, they structure the garment).
