EXHIBITION OF SCULPTURES BY MAURO CORDA AT THE HOTEL LUTETIA

In the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, there’s a grand hotel steeped in history and panache, and forever a part of Parisian life. Having celebrated its centenary in 2010, the Hôtel Lutetia continues to be a place where art and culture meet in perpetuity. Ideally located at the Sèvres-Babylone crossroads, where literary and artistic fashions come and go, the palace has always welcomed many personalities seduced by its unique location and glamorous atmosphere – travel enthusiasts, epicureans, art lovers, artists, writers and musicians have all left their mark here, including Matisse and Picasso – more recently, Arman, Philippe Hiquily, Thierry Bisch, David Lynch and Brazilian designers Humberto and Fernando Campana.

Major events and high-quality collaborations give rise to surprising and original artistic encounters: to mark the festivities at the end of 2012, the Hôtel Lutetia has given carte blanche to one of France’s most promising sculptors: Mauro Corda. Happiness and joy are the clearly stated themes for this installation in excess mode, where, among other works, contortionists and jugglers materialized by the artist’s hand will be placed throughout the hotel – the circus imaginary invites itself to the Left Bank and settles at Lutetia for an original and surprising staging.

Hôtel Lutetia is a story of emotions and meaning, where dreams constantly meet reality, and where creation is a source of freedom: beauty is present on every floor, and inspiration reigns supreme.

EXHIBITION FROM DECEMBER 5, 2012 TO JANUARY 11, 2013
