Pommery pays tribute to its muse

As the festive season approaches, Champagne Pommery pays tribute to Louise Pommery, its muse. In a very limited edition, you’ll find an exceptional cuvée, the 1990 vintage, which corresponds to the 100th anniversary of Madame Pommery’s death.

This Jeroboam (3L), hand-engraved by artist Patrick Levrault, is presented in a ceruse wood box. It contains a wine of rare finesse and complexity. In the Champagne region, it’s a fact that this large bottle is the most sought-after, as it’s the one with the reputation of allowing the aromas to develop to their fullest.

Born from the alliance of three of Champagne’s finest grape varieties (Cramant, Chardonnay d’Avize and Pinot Noir d’Aÿ), this 1990 vintage is the last blended in the previous millennium: it promises an exceptional tasting experience. As I haven’t had the pleasure of tasting it – the box costs €1,200 in very good wine shops – here’s an extract from the experience I had.

More information is available on the Pommery website; it’s worth remembering that champagne, even exceptional wines, should be consumed in moderation.

And for those of you who have the honor of offering this 1990 vintage Louise Jeroboam as a gift, we’d love to hear from you in the comments section.
