The Levi’s® Spring/Summer 2013 collection pays homage to the past while looking to the future. Based on the principles of craftsmanship, innovation and sustainability, and with a strong focus on color, prints and patterns, the collection was inspired by India and the spirit of transforming the old into the new.
“From our trip to India – from the stories we heard, the ancient arts and techniques we learned and the spirituality of the culture we discovered – we developed ideas and methods that were applied to our colorful sample for the Spring/Summer 2013 season,” said Jonathan Kirby, Global Vice President of Creative for the Levi’s® brand.
Carefully designed with a focus on environmental impact, the Spring/Summer 2013 collection continues the Levi’s® brand’s sustainable design efforts. By using recycled and alternative fibers and new finishing and dyeing techniques, the collection relies on a more efficient use of resources, thus creating products that are good for people and even better for the planet.
Men’s Collection
For the Men’s collection, Levis stays true to its heritage by focusing on the high quality of denim. The men’s range combines clean lines with a modern heritage, in line with the refined and personalized complete outfit of the Autumn/Winter 2012 season.
For tops, vintage-inspired T-shirts feature graphic prints that highlight Levi’s® jeans, whose rebellious past serves as inspiration. Outerwear includes timeless leather jackets and classic blousons, as well as seasonal essentials such as parka, anorak and deck jacket.
Overall, the entire silhouette of the men’s collection plays on proportions. Elongated tops are paired with cropped jeans and shorts in original lengths. Levis plays with different heights this season, so pants can be worn at the natural waist for a more refined look, or low-rise for a much more relaxed style and comfort.
Levi’s® 501®
Finally, for the first time in the 140-year history of blue jeans, Levi’s® 501® jeans will be offered for the Spring/Summer 2013 collection in a material other than denim, marking the latest evolution of this timeless, iconic product.
Levis also offers bolder colors and embellishments on the garment’s iconic details, making it the perfect product for this generation.
This year, Levi’s® 501® jeans are the same as they’ve always been, like you’ve never seen them before.
Women’s Collection
The feminine spirit guided this season, all natural elegance, vivacity, humor and strength. The collection offers a playful approach to proportions, with a mix of very wide and very fitted silhouettes, a must-have look for women this season.
Vividly colored solid stripes, plaid fabrics, digital novelties and shibori-inspired prints are just some of the different pattern techniques that will appear throughout the Spring/Summer collection.
Design details include clever custom features, form-fitting seams, twists and darts, fabric blends, raw hems, laser cuts, button-down collars, openwork back details, color blocks and unstructured embellishments. Handcrafted fabrics, embroidery and metal beads also play an essential role in the overall concept of this season’s creations. For the Spring/Summer 2013 season, Levis is offering a new generation of must-have finishes, such as authentic repairs as well as stylish destructuring.
Boyfriend Skinny
Finally, this season, Levis is transforming the boyfriend jean to be much less casual, and much more fitted. With just a touch of casual and a more structured look overall, the new Levi’s® Boyfriend Skinny is much tighter in the leg and available in a universal fit based on the 501®.
All Levi’s® Boyfriend Skinny jeans feature unexpected colors, unstructured details and embellishments that make these fitted jeans stand out from the crowd.
Footwear and Accessories
The Spring/Summer 2013 collection marks the launch of Levi’s® Footwear and Accessories worldwide.
The product range is imagined in-house by Levi’s® designers and designed to offer a Levi’s® look from head to toe. The Spring/Summer 2013 Men’s collection features a range of colorful suede ankle boots, unlined leather boots and canvas boots with original patterns – all inspired by the colors, spirit and vibes of India. The Women’s collection is also inspired by India, featuring a range of unique woven leathers, bright colors and feminine motifs.
