Britain’s Sian Whitefoot voted Lingerie Designer of the Year at the Triumph Inspiration Awards. Kicking off Shanghai Fashion Week in spectacular style, the international final of the 2012 Triumph Inspiration Award welcomed over 500 guests to the world-renowned Shanghai Minsheng Art. Inspired by this year’s theme, “Dragons & Butterflies”, 31 finalists from all over the world presented their unique models on the catwalk, revealing their stunning designs in front of Chinese and international media personalities, opinion leaders, buyers and international stars.
MTV China’s very own VJ duo, Andy Chen and the beautiful Zhu Zhu, presented the prestigious award and set the scene for the mysterious world of dragons and butterflies throughout this dazzling fashion show.
The young designers’ inspired designs were judged by a panel of fashion experts: Chinese actress and singer Karen Mok, stylist Uma Wang, internationally renowned photographer Wing Shya, Vogue Italia editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani, Chinese supermodel Bonnie Chen and English stylist Matthew Williamson.
1st place: Sian Whitefoot from Great Britain with the Ecliptic Renewal model
2nd place: Alla Polozenko from Italy with the Dragon & Butterfly Infinity model
3rd place: Luca Beke from Hungary with the Reborn Warrior model
The highly respected Franca Sozzani, editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia and president of this year’s jury, comments: “It was a very difficult decision for all of us.
All the fantastic, marvellous creations that made it to the international final
of this unique competition were rich in inspiration and showed great mastery of finish and execution. In the end, it was Sian Whitefoot, an outstanding young talent from Great Britain, who convinced us that her model surpassed all the requirements.
Demontfort University talent Sian Whitefoot was thrilled when Chinese supermodel Bonnie Chen carried her work to the podium: “I’m speechless.
It’s a dream come true! All these months spent preparing for the event have been so fantastic, I’ve learned so much. And these last few days here in Shanghai with the other finalists have been intense. It’s been an incredible and unique experience for me. I’d like to thank Triumph and the jury for giving us this fabulous platform to demonstrate our ideas and inspirations.”
In addition to a prodigious cash prize, each year Triumph honors the winner with the chance to develop their design into a commercial lingerie line, which is then sold in Triumph boutiques worldwide. Sian Whitefoot will follow in the footsteps of Hungarian-born Boglárka Bódis, winner of last year’s Triumph Inspiration Award with her model “Les Fleurs du Mal”, currently on sale at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, Paris.
