Heiress at ÉLIE SAAB
Élie Saab and his creations need no introduction: veritable jewels worn on a woman’s body, they sublimate and sculpt it. There are collections that present themselves to you as self-evident, almost causing you to feel the anguish of a blank page, as everything seems to impose itself to such an extent that words are superfluous to describe their aspects or what they evoke.
That’s exactly what inspired me about Élie Saab’s spring-summer collection.
Heritiere is the title of this season’s collection. An elusive woman who changes according to her moods and desires. Sometimes artistic, sometimes modern, she’s ethereal and exuberant.
Modernism blended with a simplicity that is not customary for the Lebanese designer, the Élie Saab fashion show is a truly timeless experience, as if suspended in time. Spectacular and spectacular, Élie Saab’s princesses are dressed in fresh, tangy colors, but also in sober hues such as powder pink and virginal white.
Whether dramatically swirling in silk chiffon or sharp in body-hugging jumpsuits, there are no limits to their eccentricity and originality. They’re socialites, and every hour of the day is an opportunity for them to express the inclinations of their moods.
Geometry and prints are of course the order of the day in the wardrobes of these great ladies. I remember one dress in particular that stood out for me: a combination of fuchsia, black, white, turquoise and chick yellow, summing up the Élie Saab spring-summer collection in its nods to the designer’s inimitable orientalism, savoir-faire and technique.
A daydream? An incredible surprise? A sweet mirage? Élie Saab’s Spring/Summer is so flawless and grandiose that I don’t know how to conclude, for its scope transcends notions of space and time, and stands as an eternal reference.
