A collection that feels like a warm breath, all encompassing and sensual. Caped dresses and jumpsuits set the tone, the spirit free and carefree. Trailing sleeves and asymmetrical fins float, dress bottoms quiver with embroidered needles and frayed organza foliage. Ergonomic cuts inspired by the works of Finnish designer Alvar Aalto emphasize curves, while the comfort of jerseys, cashmeres and stretch muslins give the overall look a controlled nonchalance. Influenced by the design of Verner Panton, avalanches of laser-cut muslin reproduce his ceiling creations in cascades of mother-of-pearl, and ruffles in organza leaves recall the structure of his yamagiwa lamp.
This season Stephane Rolland goes even further in new techniques and precious details, surrounded by the best French craftsmen. Woodworkers, visual artists, sculptors and jewelers take turns creating silicone furs, rock crystal shoulder ornaments, varnished Macassar ebony belts and suede-sheathed metal sculptures by Belgian artist Christina Jekey.
Finally, punctuated by black and ruby red, the pearly white and vanilla tones mixed with Havana and blond cedar imagined a timeless, sunny winter.
A masterful fashion show that you can follow from backstage in this video. Note the presence of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian at the show.
