The show by Danish designer Henrik Vibskov A show worthy of the greatest Kubrickwith its visuals and sound very reminiscent of 2001 Space Odyssey. As two men in perforated black berets unfold a long pink train covered with what appear to be black dots, the shape comes to life and swells in the space of a few moments to give the appearance of the organ located in our oral cavity: the tongue. Hands begin to emerge from this unreal pink sphere, at odds with the rest of the very classical scenery, waltzing to the rhythm of an oppressive melody. Wetsuit-clad bodies slowly undulate out of this titanic tongue, awaiting the arrival of the models.

The collection unfolds before our electrified eyes, and we find key elements such as the basket on the back worn as a backpack, and many of the “hole” motifs that seem to be the symbol of this new Spring Summer 2013 collection: sweaters and shorts with symmetrical perforations, berets with holes, and so on. While the designer has focused on childlike colors, close to a gentle eccentricity, we find that je ne sais quoi of disquiet, provided in particular by the staging and magnetizing prints. A macabre, disturbing dance. The crowd is hypnotized by the models as they follow one another. A predominance of white, off-white, cotton drape, Bermuda shorts, Navajo prints, oversized sweaters, tye die in shades of gray and black, zippers, psychedelic symbols, from suit jackets to authentic trench coats, not forgetting original and unusual headwear. We also find shoes adorned with elastic bands reminiscent of the different muscles of the tongue. The designer mixes and matches street wear pieces with classier ones. A nice mashup with a touch of originality, with the basket and scepter often found, seeming to represent a chimney sweep matching the show’s colors. The Vibskov man is a man at ease in his own skin, daring to combine a cotton sweatshirt with linen Bermuda shorts, mixing noble materials with cozier clothes. He breaks the codes of political correctness, and we give him all the honors.
