Orange RockCorps: 5,000 volunteers at the Zénith!

Thursday July 12 saw the Orange RockCorps concert event. It rained that day, but that didn’t discourage the young volunteers from coming out to celebrate.
In fact, for the fourth year running, Orange RockCorps enabled 5,000 young people to get involved in 75 community projects. They were able to help 44 associations by giving 4 hours of their time in exchange for a concert ticket, and by applying the Orange RockCorps philosophy of “You give, You get”. You can’t buy or earn a ticket; you have to have helped an association for 4 hours during a project organized specifically by Orange RockCorps.

All these volunteers gathered at the Zenith in Paris for an exceptional concert. After N*E*R*D, Snoop Dogg, David Guetta, Selah Sue, Nas & Damian Marley, Busta Rhymes, Akon, Sefyu, Razorlight, Kelly Rowland, Lilly Wood and the Prick, Ludacris, Soprano, ….
It was the turn of Sean Paul, Shy’m, The Ting Tings and 1995 to thank the volunteers on stage and celebrate the commitment of generous, enthusiastic young people. The artists followed one another at a press conference. The 1995s, a young rap group, are delighted to be taking part in this project. The group’s carefree members seem to be enjoying their success. A smiling Shy’m is enthusiastic about the project, as she found out when she took part in a project in the 20th arrondissement. The Ting Tings, who are taking part in the Orange RockCorps project for the second time, are delighted to be here. They affirmed their love of France and its gastronomy. Last but not least, Sean Paul was on hand to answer journalists’ questions. The artist is sensitive to the actions of associations. He talked about his involvement with an association in Jamaica. His summer promises to be a busy one, with a tour of the United States in particular.
“This 4th edition confirms the popular success of the movement, since these young people will have discovered the associative world in an original way and will have helped to make things happen around them”, rejoices Stephen Greene, CEO of RockCorps. For Odile Roujol, Director of Communications at Orange France, “team spirit, sharing and solidarity are important to us. We believe in the commitment that unites a group around the emotion and passion of music”.
This year, NRJ is a partner of the Orange RockCorps program.
The concert was a great party. The young people in attendance were able to dance the night away as their tweets flashed across a giant screen. The highlight was, of course, Sean Paul’s performance.
Following its success last summer at the Dôme, a new Orange RockCorps concert will be held in Marseille in early October.
