Last Tuesday, Basil Soda presented its Autumn-Winter 2012-2013 Haute-Couture collection. The Luxsure editorial team was there and guess what…we loved it!
Basil Soda doesn’t play with contrasts! With him, women blend into an autumnal landscape! Red, orange and green: poetic colors in contrast to the flashy tones we’ve been wearing this summer. Here, the woman is soft and lost in the surrounding vegetation. As you may have guessed, nature and its metamorphoses are the themes that inspire the designer. Transparency, light and shadow reveal the sensuality of the woman. Embroidery, feathers and rhinestones illuminate long dresses. As the show progresses, a mutation takes place and the outfits glide lightly into winter. The highlight of the show: a wedding dress that takes up the season’s codes. All tulle and transparency, the bride seems trapped in her veil, waiting to be delivered.
Better known for his architectural outfits, the designer surprised us with his vegetal women. From his architectural studies, he has retained a certain taste for volume. Like Elie Saab, Basil Soda is part of the “Lebanese touch” that’s shaking up the fashion world. Subtle touches, inlays and rhinestones have already seduced the Croisette last May. Marion Cotillard, Emmanuelle Devos and Melita Toscan were seen on the steps, all dressed in Basil Soda. The show ended with Lykke Li’s hit “I follow you”. What can we say: the fashion world is at her feet!
