On Monday July 2, Serkan Cura unveiled his Couture creations. This young designer has made feathers his specialty. At Luxsure, we fell in love with this bird’s collection!
Peacock, ostrich, hen or even down: Serkan Cura is the feather expert. The young designer presented us with a parade of bird-women. With him, forget about feathers being too much: here, they’re sublimated! With subtle touches, feathers evoke the grace, lightness, fragility and freedom of birds. In a total look, this raw material enjoys the same power as fur and exudes a raw, animal spirit that’s terribly sexy! On other creations, feathers dress corsets and even play with gradients!
In his workshop, the designer puts on his craftsman’s hat. First, the feather has to be chosen, then reworked. Cutting, coloring – it’s all part of the process! The designer has developed unique techniques for attaching feathers to garments.
To understand why a house that is barely a year old has such a strong identity, we need to look at its creator. At the age of 13, Serkan Cura developed a passion for headwear and began a collection of hat molds gleaned from market stalls. In 2007, he went on to study fashion and design at the Royal Academy of Antwerp. He spent four years working with Jean-Paul Gaultier before launching his own label, Serkan Cura. The result: the young designer presented us with a highly accomplished collection. A flight to follow.
