Pleats Please Issey Miyake fragrances
A birth is always a moving event, which is why the birth of Issey Miyake’s new fragrance had to be a striking, poetic and beautiful event.

The source of Miyake fragrances is water. Wonderful Eau d’Issey for women and spicy flavor for men.
Undulating, limpid and luminous, the eaux signed Issey Miyake’s first steps in perfumery, while writing its history in a register of quasi-conceptual purity and elegant simplicity.
While one facet of the Japanese designer’s creativity is perfectly suited to these fragrances, another is played out in the territory of gaiety, dynamism and color.
Today, a new adventure continues the company’s history, weaving a precious and close bond with fashion.

Issey Miyake is undoubtedly an exceptional designer, but his most remarkable and popular success is embodied in the emblematic pleated garments, whose fame has spread around the world in over eighty colors.
Now Pleats Please is getting in on the act.
A tribute to this iconic garment with a fragrance of emotion, a hymn to joy.
After the trans-cultural bridge between East and West, with Pleats Please the Japanese designer weaves a link between worlds that everything seemed to oppose.
Between creativity and practicality.
Between fashion and everyday life.
Between timeless and trendy.
Between classic and sharp.
The Issey Miyake fold
Timeless! Created by Issey Miyake, pleated fabrics have evolved and become increasingly practical, becoming the house’s trademark. Lightweight, easy to use, easy to care for, technically astute and innovative. For Issey Miyake, garments emerge from the press “like toast from a toaster”.
For Miyake, pleating embodies a universal garment like few others.
Women all over the world have adopted it. With its basic shapes and comfortable, easy-to-carry fabric, Pleats Please offers a burst of freedom, the pleasure of free expression with no constraints on movement.
This iconic garment, so emblematic for the general public of Issey Miyake’s fashion signature, has now been joined by a fragrance.
Perfume
The fragrance had to be cheerful and joyful. Aurélien Guichard composed a bouquet of laughter and light. A nectar of happiness, a sin to succumb to joie de vivre.
The first inspiration was light, inherent to the Issey Miyake universe, developed in reflections. Next came the idea of verticality, in the image of the structure of the pleat.
Then came movement, induced by the wearing of the pleat. Free-spirited and chiselled, the fragrance is also imbued with an idea of comfort.
At the top of the list is the sparkling nashi with its curious taste, a hybrid of pear and apple, which oscillates between the two fruits, but is still predominantly pear.
For this new fragrance, theexuberance and generosity of a bouquet were essential. In a delicate composition, florality is a sign of femininity.
Joyful and optimistic, the heart suggests a delicate voluptuousness. Fresh peony and sweet pea blossom. Hints of indol add a touch of sensuality on the skin, “giving it body”, says the perfumer. Warm and vibrant, the heart suggests an “invitation to fluidity”.
The base continues the path of softness with vibrant, woody notes of cedar, while vertical patchouli runs through the composition. The sweetness of voluptuous vanilla warmly prolongs the trail. A creamy vanilla absolute, “vanille blanche”, wraps the fragrance in softness with comfortable white musks.
Perfumer Aurélien Guichard designed the fragrance to be “vertical”, like a pleated line. A true floral, a signature fragrance with an obvious, enveloping femininity. Pleats Please is an addictive cocoon. Chiseled with facets, it is echoed in its bottle.

From 2D pleats to 3D bottles
To express the idea of pleats, the geometry of a multi-faceted polyhedron became obvious. In the world of Issey Miyake, there are several lines derived from the notion of pleating. In accessories, the transition from flat folding to three-dimensionality creates faceted volumes.
