Building on the success of its 21 Suites and Appartement Couture created in 2010, Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg has once again entrusted interior designer Didier Gomez with the transformation of its restaurant and the embellishment of its reception hall.

Didier Gomez designed the interior in the same direction as the Suites. Drawing inspiration from the history of the building and its surroundings, the project is based on a subtle balance between memory and modernity, with variations in the spirit of “very Parisian chic” and references to the theme of couture.

Les Collections” restaurant
Le Café Faubourg has given way to “Les Collections” restaurant, echoing the Faubourg Saint Honoré, symbol of the great couture houses and a veritable Parisian institution. Meticulous attention has been paid to motifs, shapes and fabrics, like the process of creating a Haute Couture collection.
The restaurant is embellished with 18th-century-style pilasters, and the floor is covered with a carpet of vast beige and black mosaics that recall the original motifs present in the hotel. Capitalizing on the landscaped terrace, a formidable asset given the hustle and bustle, the idea was to bring the garden into the restaurant. Trompe l’oeil ivy panels cover the entire height of the walls, which are mirrored at the bottom. References to French gardens are made through numerous pots of boxwood. The space between the reception hall and the restaurant is decorated in gold and white: gold leaf, white pilasters and dark parquet flooring. The ceiling is decorated with the same motif as the carpet for the reception hall.
Two prints by fashion photographer Cathleen Naundorf combine jewelry and gastronomy in a dreamlike universe of singular originality.
The place is lively and convivial. It invites you to discover the noble products that our Chef brings to the fore every evening. Seated around the table d’hôte, everyone can enjoy these excellent appetizers before discovering the menu of newly-arrived Chef Keigo Kimura.
The latter will unroll the thread of his own culinary collections as the seasons change. To do this, Keigo Kimura immerses himself in the characteristics of the product, then forges a vision of the dish that will best enhance it. Should its aromas and texture be crisp or slightly acidic? The dish then gradually takes shape, respecting two fundamentals: the clarity of the main product, and the logic of the cooking process, so that each ingredient in the same dish is sublimated. Creativity, without arrogance or superficiality, expresses itself through the originality of condiments and the use of juices, herbs or spices to enhance the flavors of the dish. An authentic cuisine, based on the codes of French gastronomy, but undoubtedly imbued with modernity, whose sole objective is to provide our customers with the pleasure of gustatory discoveries.
The reception hall
Didier Gomez has done a marvellous job of breathing new life into the reception hall, which becomes a dynamic living space, punctuated by the comings and goings of customers as they gather, dine… The ivory stone walls become light grey, bringing modernity and warmth. A superb photograph by Cathleen Naundorf for Christian Dior immediately catches the eye. In the center, the floor gives the illusion of a painted ceiling reflected in it, thanks to the carpet printed with inverted charcoal sketches of characters. The choice of furniture reflects a harmonious confrontation between the 18th and 21st centuries, in a gradation of white, beige, grey, black and gold. The classicism that traditionally codifies Parisian palaces and fashion houses is revitalized to build a unique and strong identity, and place the place in its current era.
“I wanted to play with codes: codes of place, of fashion, of classicism, of chic, of elegance, while modernizing them and keeping as my sole objective the embodiment of luxury and harmony”. Didier Gomez
