Perrier celebrates 35 years of tennis partnership at Roland-Garros!

Spring always has a special flavour with its unmissable events. Roland Garros is one of them. This Grand Slam tournament brings back many childhood memories. The interminable matches on center court, the commitment of the players and the fervor of the public. Perrier is also part of this history.
As early as 1928, Perrier celebrated the inauguration of the Roland-Garros stadium with an advertisement in a prestigious magazine of the time,
“L’Illustration”. But Perrier’s commitment to tennis really took shape in 1978, when it became an “official partner” of the French Open at
. That year, the Perrier bubble appeared on the coolers, and a little later it was added to the players’ rest and hydration area, along with the emblematic umpire’s chair. At the same time, the brand accompanied some of the world’s greatest players in their rise to prominence, including Guillermo Vilas, Henri Leconte, Goran Ivanisevic, Cédric Pioline, Monica Seles and Gabriella Sabatini.

Perrier is celebrating 35 years of tennis partnership at Roland-Garros.
To mark this historic association, Perrier is stepping up to the plate for this 2012 edition, putting tournament spectators and FFT licensees at the heart of the celebration. The public, amateur players and tennis “legends” alike – all lovers of the little yellow ball will be celebrated through a multitude of events, encounters and games. And beyond the 35 years of partnership between Perrier and Roland-Garros, it is Perrier’s historic commitment to French tennis that will be honored during this Parisian fortnight.
In 1987, the brand sponsored the Championnats de France, an amateur tennis competition, and, alongside Philippe Chatrier, created a “Trophée Perrier” rewarding leagues each year for the performances of their players.
In 1996, Perrier materialized its presence on the Roland-Garros courts with an area dedicated to players’ rest. In 2011, Perrier gave its name to the Trophée des Légendes. A true event within an event, this tournament brings together every year some thirty of the greatest personalities in the history of world tennis.
Spectators at the heart of the celebration In a nod to these 35 years of partnership, Perrier will be offering 35 gifts to Roland-Garros spectators every day! Unique gifts for immediate enjoyment: VIP boxes to watch the matches, access to the famous “village” to quench your thirst, and the chance to bump into a few celebrities along the way!
Spectators will also be invited to support the future tennis legends and express their love of the yellow ball by taking part in an original civic action. They can deposit their empty PET Perrier and Vittel bottles in a giant Perrier bottle. Thanks to a recycling system, these thousands of bottles will be transformed into equipment for tennis clubs.
Amateurs and licensees in the spotlight
To illustrate its commitment to tennis, Perrier is organizing, in collaboration with the FFT, a unique day of encounters between amateurs and tennis pros. The winners of the 2011 Trophée Perrier French Championship, from all age categories and in singles, will be invited to Roland-Garros on June 9 to swap balls with some of the greatest champions in the history of tennis, both current players and participants in the Trophée des Légendes Perrier!
Once again this year, the Perrier Legends Trophy will celebrate the greatest stars in the history of tennis.

Created and hosted by Mansour Bahrami, it will take place from June 5 to 10, and will once again be marked by emotion, generosity and fun! John McEnroe, Mats Wilander, Henri Leconte, Sergi Bruguera and Goran
Ivanisevic will be in attendance. The so-called “Legends” of tennis! Champions with an exceptional track record who will forever be associated with our fondest sporting memories.
Because time passes, but legends remain. Because the game is more important than the stakes. Because emotion, pleasure and creativity flow generously with every stroke of the racket!
The line-up for this 15th edition promises to be spectacular once again. The men’s tournament will feature 24 players, including 12 doubles teams, while the women’s draw will feature 6 teams.
