Porsche Design P’9981 from BlackBerry, a smartphone that combines luxury and high performance

Porsche Design and Research In Motion announce the new top-of-the-range smartphone from BlackBerry®, the Porsche Design P’9981.Designed by Porsche Design in collaboration with RIM, this first smartphone from the prestige brand stands out for its luxury design and high performance.
The Porsche Design P’9981 from BlackBerry is immediately identifiable as a Porsche Design product. Exceptional materials have been selected for this unique smartphone, including a forged stainless steel chassis, a hand-stitched leather-covered hood, a sculpted AZERTY keyboard and a crystal-clear touchscreen. This custom Porsche Design P’9981 features an exclusive Porsche Design user interface and a bespoke augmented reality experience thanks to the Wikitude World Browser. It is also equipped with exclusive “premium” PIN numbers that will make it easier to identify another P’9981 user.

The Porsche Design P’9981 is built on a high-performance platform featuring a 1.2 GHz processor, HD video recording, high-resolution 24-bit graphics and advanced sensors for new augmented reality applications. It comes with 8 GB of on-board memory, expandable up to 40 GB with a micro SD card.
BlackBerry® 7, the operating system of the new Porsche Design P’9981, incorporates a next-generation BlackBerry® browser, ensuring a fast, fluid web browsing experience that’s among the best in the industry. It also features Graphics Liquid™ technology, which brings a highly responsive touch experience and incredibly fast, fluid graphics.
The Porsche Design P’9981 supports NFC as standard, enabling a host of exciting new features.
The Porsche Design P’9981 smartphone from BlackBerry will be available in Porsche Design boutiques by the end of the year.
