On the occasion of the launch of the book La planète mode de Jean Paul Gaultier – De la rue aux étoiles, published by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, we had the immense privilege of attending an exceptional grace event at the Maison Gaultier.

The whole of Paris was there to celebrate the launch of this magnificent retrospective book. They included Yvette Horner, Arielle Dombasle, Suzy Menkes, Christophe Hondelatte, Antoine de Caunes…
A live performance by Catherine Ringer rounded off the festivities.
The fashion planet of Jean Paul Gaultier – From the street to the stars
Dubbed the “enfant terrible” of fashion, Jean Paul Gaultier is undeniably one of the most important designers of recent decades. His avant-garde fashion was quick to grasp the challenges facing our society. He signed his first ready-to-wear collection in 1976, then founded his own haute couture house in 1997. Curious about all cultures and counter-cultures, he boldly seizes the zeitgeist, proposing an aesthetic of metamorphosis, reinterpretation and crossbreeding, blurring boundaries and asserting the right to deference, thus conceiving a new way of making and wearing fashion. His immense respect for craftsmanship and elegance also make him one of the rare couturiers capable of reconciling tradition and the avant-garde.
Published on the occasion of Jean Paul Gaultier’s 35 years of fashion, this book, the first comprehensive work on the work of Jean Paul Gaultier, explores in an innovative and original way the privileged links of this uncomplicated and generous designer with the music scene and the arts through 5 departures: Les Paris de Jean Paul Gaultier – Le boudoir – A fleur de peau – Jungle urbaine – Metropolis. There are also a large number of interviews with personalities from the worlds of fashion, cinema, music, design, media and photography…
