From October 18 to 23, 2011, Laurence Dreyfus and Alain Borgers, General Manager of the Shangri-La Hotel Paris, present “Lines & Figures: Conversations “* for the fifth edition of “Chambres à part”.
An exhibition of Asian and European contemporary art talent, in the exclusive setting of the Imperial Suite at the Shangri-La Hotel Paris, 10 avenue d’Iéna, Paris 16th.

Perpetuating the tradition of exhibitions such as “Chambres d’amis”, instituted by Jan Hoet in Ghent in 1986, “Lines & Figures: Conversations” is the fifth edition of Chambres à part.
Part of the FIAC Parcours événement, Chambres à part is the arty and exclusive event conceived by Laurence Dreyfus, to present the results of her work in scouting and identifying artists at the cutting edge of contemporary creation. Now one of the major events associated with the Paris art fair, Chambres à part is a dialogue between the Asian, and in particular Chinese, and Western contemporary art scenes.
The Shangri-La Hotel, Paris is a natural partner for this initiative, since 10 avenue d’Iéna, located in the heart of Parisian cultural life, is now a meeting place for the French art of living and the Asian art of entertaining.

The Suite Impériale, listed as a Historic Monument since 2009, is the former private apartment of Prince Roland Bonaparte. It offers majestic dimensions, with a surface area approaching 300 square meters, and a remarkable restoration and interior decoration work carried out by Pierre- Yves Rochon.
Visitors are invited to wander freely from one room to another in the Suite Impériale. Each room will present a conversation between creations by Asian artists, the majority of whom are Chinese, and Western artists. The exhibition, featuring abstract and figurative paintings, sculptures and videos, will bring cultures together in dialogue.

The “Lines & Figures: Conversations” exhibition marks the Shangri-La Hotel Paris’ rapprochement with contemporary art during FIAC 2011. It will provide an opportunity for the most cutting-edge contemporary art to resonate with the exceptional setting offered by the hotel’s Imperial Suite.

“Lines & Figures, Conversations” is a free, exclusive invitation. By appointment only. Contact: [email protected]

Guests of the Shangri-La Hotel, Paris are welcome to discover this exhibition in the Suite Impériale. Guests of honor on the FIAC VIP tour: Tuesday, October 18, 7-9pm.
