Artists and stars join forces for the Elton John AIDS Foundation
For the 13th consecutive year, Sir Elton John and David Furnish open the doors of their magnificent Old Windsor estate for the White Tie & Tiara Ball, organized in partnership with Chopard. This private and exclusive event will welcome a breathtaking array of hand-picked guests, including many celebrities wearing Chopard creations. Celebrities such as Alexa Chung, Elizabeth Hurley, Camilla al Fayed, Anne Hathaway, Hayley Atwell, Beth Dito as well as Sir Elton John and David Furnish, will wear Haute Joaillerie pieces by the Geneva-based Maison. Other distinguished guests, such as Noomi Rapace, Boris Becker, and Tracey Emin, will also be present, and a “surprise” guest star will offer a special performance.
RetroFutureSpace
This year’s party is all about the unusual, with the decor inspired by three words combined to form the “RetroFutureSpace” concept. The evening will plunge guests into the world of 70s science fiction films and their depiction of a distant future set in sidereal space. Chopard will contribute to this theme by offering guests the opportunity to enjoy otherworldly experiences.
Guests will begin the evening by walking through the Italian Terrace to enter “RetroFutureSpace” via Planet Chopard. This giant floral sculpture will be highlighted by a huge ring-shaped mirror reflecting natural colors, evoking the vibrant color of Chopard jewelry. This splendid sculpture will gently prepare guests for the futuristic wonders that await them next.
To enter the large dinner tent, guests will have to cross the Chopard Lobby. The only source of light in this lobby will come from monoliths that encircle the guests. Each piece will feature a key sequence from an iconic science fiction film, which can be viewed through a meteorite hole, as if peering into the future. Breathtaking Haute Joaillerie creations will take center stage in each scene, and have been chosen to glow in the dark. In order to leave this luminous whirlwind and continue on to the rest of the evening, they have to let their eyes guide them, while trying not to be too fascinated by the volutes of the Chopard logo dancing above their heads.
A creation by Gary Hume and Chopard at auction
During the evening, guests will be enchanted by succulent culinary delights, breathtaking performances and the legendary auction. This year’s auction will see several splendid pieces put up for auction, with one of the star lots being a set consisting of a work of art and a watch. The painting was created by artist Gary Hume for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, and is entitled “Be Firm”. The watch donated to the cause is the result of a three-way collaboration between Chopard, Hume and the Foundation. It is a unique variation on Chopard’s Elton John Watch Collection, with a diamond-encircled lacquered secret on the caseback for the wearer’s eyes only. The dial, also surrounded by diamonds, nestles in an 18-carat white gold case, the same noble material used for the buckle of the alligator strap.
