The Palme d’Or by Chopard

The Palme d’Or, the supreme prize awarded to the best feature film in competition at the Festival, will be produced for the 14th consecutive year by the Chopard workshops, and presented at the closing ceremony on May 22. Redesigned by Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele in 1998, this precious trophy is undoubtedly the Festival’s most coveted “jewel”. The small Palmes awarded for Best Actress and Best Actor and the Chopard Trophy are also made by the artisans of the Geneva company.

The Palm weighs 118g of yellow gold and 1248g of rock crystal and measures 13.5cmx9cmx9cm.

An exceptional sponsor for the 10th anniversary of the Trophée Chopard

Actor Robert de Niro will be the exceptional patron of the Trophée Chopard 2011 on May 14. During the 64th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, he will present two young actors, promising talents of international cinema, with a trophy that is celebrating its 10th anniversary and has already awarded prizes to Marion Cotillard, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Diane Kruger and Gael Garcia-Bernal, among others.

This year’s winners were chosen by a jury of film professionals including actress Marisa Berenson, director Claude Lelouch, producer Takis Candilis, Mathieu Carratier, editor-in-chief of Première magazine, and Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele. The awards ceremony will be followed by an evening to celebrate 10 years of the Trophée Chopard.
