Henrik Vibskov’s runway shows are also an opportunity to witness true stage performances. The Autumn Winter 2011-2012 season is no exception, with Henrik Vibskov inviting us to an intriguing dinner party.

To music reminiscent of the circus world, two men wearing headgear and unusual vintage aviator goggles enter the stage dressed in red and white jumpsuits, like neo-Loyal gentlemen. Manipulating large punching bags around a large banquet table, they quickly transform them into two large curtains running along each side of the table, kicking off the parade proper.

The tone is set from the outset: compulsory headgear, exposed socks covering moccasins and vintage aviator glasses punctuate silhouettes where tops with enlarged proportions cover tapered pants with abnormally low crotches, somewhere between sarouel and carrot pant. Materials blend to perfection.

The designer offers an astonishing range of overcoats. Multi-pocket anoraks, short or three-quarter length jackets, peacoats or long coats give us an embarrassment of riches to choose from, while a simple quilted vest sometimes doubles as an overcoat. One hybrid piece stands out: a two-material down jacket with a cape or poncho effect.

The palette remains neutral, with autumnal tones taking center stage. Khaki is very present, combined with orange, petrol blue, red and dark gray. None of the colors is overtly bright.

Using few prints, Henrik Vibskov has given pride of place in this Fall Winter 2011-2012 collection to cut and detail, for a season high in structure.
