Delage, a luxury women’s shoe manufacturer whose boutique is located in the gardens of the Palais-Royal, will celebrate its 20th anniversary in February and the opening of its first corner in the United States in New York.
One enters this small store under the arcane of the gallery of Valois as if one entered in a jewelry: it is necessary to ring to be able to admire the treasures proposed. What makes the brand special? Her knowledge of exotic skins and her ability to create shoes according to the colors and materials requested by the customer.
Delage was born from the association of two women: Primerose Bordier, a high priestess of colors, and Barbara Wirth, a renowned interior designer, who decided to focus their work on the selection of materials and the total customization of women’s shoes. A quality service close to the customer and offering “à la carte” shoes in a range of sophisticated colors. This is the strength of Delage shoes. They are available in a range of classic materials (suede, leather, satin, goat …) and exotic skins: crocodile, ostrich, python painted by hand or not, shark and especially shagreen, despite its fragility.
Delage is the last luxury shoe manufacturer to have its manufacturing workshop in France in Fougères, one of the historic cities of the shoe industry. Everything is entirely handmade in the workshop in the respect of a know-how of shoe making by using beautiful materials, quality leather.
It is a discreet brand with a loyal clientele (foreign customers and some well-known personalities: Catherine Deneuve, Jane Birkin…) but with an unrivalled know-how, luxury craftsmanship produced in small quantities but all year round. Delage’s philosophy is clear: quality, style and comfort.
Delage offers its models for sale in the store. When a customer likes a model but would like a different material or color, she can choose among the different samples proposed by the saleswomen and her personalized model will be directly manufactured in the workshop in Fougères. The color of the eyelets and laces can even be chosen as well as the color of the seams.
Small curiosity: the store also offers overshoes for the rain to protect the shoes (a Norwegian idea). Quite amazing but excellent idea considering the quality and fragility of the materials.
An address to know for those who love luxury shoes combined with a quality service.
