#VISIONZ

« Vision is about the perspective of one’s mind to see and understand. So, in this collection we’ve used our #visionz

We started the collection just after our family holiday to Tokyo this past Fall. Even after we returned our minds was still there. As we continued to look at all the pictures from our holiday of the streets of Tokyo. We created the first print for our FW20 collection using my branded bunnies, elephants and pigs. I loved visiting the local vintage stores in the Harajuku district of Tokyo. They were full of American Varsity Jackets and Cowboy Boots. It was an amazing contrast to what you see outside. We were fascinated with the crazy school uniforms of Kawaii girls and boys. From my Soviet Union childhood, I was flooded with memories of being a school girl we were obliged to wear a brown dress with black apron every day and for special occasions with a white lace apron with the same dress. Combined with the contradiction of our London perspective, where we live, it’s about contradiction with the 1970s punk revolution. Change is happening all around us.

For Fall Winter 2020 Natasha Zinko x DUOltd takes a look at the other worlds that could lay around us, delving into dystopia and reiterating that fashion should be an exploring and honouring of our individuality in total harmony. Renowned manga anime artist Mad Dog Jones created an exclusive print for Natasha Zinko x DUOltd. Fantasy and sci-fi are fantastical ingredients that make for a heady mix of impactful relaxed combinations with structured silhouettes. Predominantly known by Natasha and Ivan’s global fans for always delivering powerful looks with a strong point of craftsmanship, this season’s execution is no exception.

Violet/Orange and Green/Black Mohair Checks, Cotton Tie-dye, Leather, Faux Leather, Black/White Wool Houndstooth create a kaleidoscope of unexpected combinations, Blue and Beige Corduroy add a nod towards the beauty of the working person. Brocades are recrafted in untraditional silhouettes making them more street less posh. Handknit roll-neck shredded hem jumpers. Faux leopard 100% recycled polyester fleece jacket with matching oversized shorts. Strips of multiple fabrications from the past 6 years hand knitted to create a jumper effect. Pink/Black Silk Hounds- Tooth is given new life encased with transparent sequins. Maxi oversized draped pink faux fur jacket. Menswear influences redesigned into an ultra-feminine from wool check windowpane plaid into a cut-out dress. Each item is slightly twisted and counterbalanced. Another childhood reference attaching gloves on to the sleeves of the jackets. The cotton lightning bolt shirt is seen several times. Ties worn unexpectedly in a revolt to tradition. The real strength of this collection lies in the individual pieces that separated fit seamlessly into our real wardrobe.

Key accessories lie in the form of several new silhouettes, Teardrop chunky heeled zip front brogues reading cyber goth meets punk, open to cut out ankle booties, over the knee thigh high boots counterbalanced with 20cm back zip over the knee thigh high boots. Wicker bags are tar road black geometric in their approach, breathing new life into this classical material. Black leather bunnies and pigs adorn silver chains and leather belts in a sadomasochistic playful manner. Heavy leather square backpack and shoulder bags reinforce strength gold plated silver jewellery with each hand referencing PEACE. 18carat gold diamond bunnies, elephants, pigs and introducing a rat with the Chinese New Year fast approaching.

“We wanted to take this collection out of the world we live in and make a point that fashion, like dressing up, can be fantastical and surprising. We all have to play many characters in our daily lives and sometimes an escape from reality can be very welcomed and cathartic” »
