In the wine-growing heart of Saint-Émilion, one vintage marks a return to their roots for the Malet Roquefort family: Château Puyblanquet 2020.
A Privileged Terroir on the Heights of the Dordogne
Château Puyblanquet, located in Saint-Etienne de Lisse, majestically dominates the Dordogne valley with its 19-hectare single vineyard. Its terroir, both limestone and clay-limestone, predisposes it to the cultivation of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%). The viticulture is integrated, combining tradition and respect for the environment.
A Rich Family History
The château has long been in the hands of the Malet Roquefort family, emblematic owners of Château La Gaffelière since 1705. After being sold in 1959, the estate returns to the hands of this historic Saint-Émilion family in 2019.
Vinification and Maturing: The Expression of Know-How
The 2020 harvest was marked by serenity, with meticulous hand-picking in September. Parcel-by-parcel vinification in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats allows each terroir to express itself. Ageing in barrels, 50% of which are new, sublimates this vintage.
Château Puyblanquet 2020 : A strong character
This wine, a faithful blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, seduces with its intense aromas of black fruit. Its ripe, juicy tannins, freshness and natural structure make it a vintage of choice. True to the reputation of Malet Roquefort wines, it is remarkably refined and elegant.
2020 : A Special Climate Year
Although the year 2020 was marked by a mild winter and an unpredictable spring, the optimal conditions in September enabled the grapes to reach ideal ripeness, confirming the reputation of this vintage.
Available from wine merchants for €28.80, Château Puyblanquet 2020 is a testament to the rebirth of a family tradition, a wine rich in history and aromas.
