When one thinks of the Languedoc, images of vast rolling landscapes, sunshine caressing the hillsides and the gentle Mediterranean way of life spring to mind. At the heart of this idyllic picture nestles Domaine de L’Ostal, which reveals, with its latest vintage, the quintessence of this exceptional wine region.

2022, a singular year for vines

The 2022 viticultural year was marked by mild weather, which followed a rainy end to 2021, ensuring excellent soil water recharge. Despite an episode of hail in April and record-breaking summer temperatures, the vines showed remarkable adaptability, proving once again their resilience in the face of climatic hazards. The harvest, which began at the end of August, took full advantage of this singular year, with a cool morning pressing to preserve the grapes’ delicacy and authenticity.

L’Ostal Rosé 2022, a wine for pleasure

A harmonious blend of equal parts Syrah and Grenache, L’Ostal Rosé 2022 has a breathtakingly delicate, slightly salmon-colored “rose petal” hue. Its absolutely pure bouquet reveals aromas of white-fleshed fruit and small red berries. On the palate, it’s an explosion of freshness and fleshiness, punctuated by a citrusy vivacity. A generous, fragrant wine, ideal for convivial moments.

A tribute to Languedoc terroir

Domaine de L’Ostal, located between Carcassonne and Narbonne, is a veritable ode to Languedoc terroir. The soils, marked by alternating limestone and sandstone marl, encourage water infiltration and deep roots. This estate, acquired by the Cazes family in 2002, benefits from a unique microclimate, with sunny days contrasting with the cool winds from the crests, ensuring even ripening of the grapes.

Beyond the production of exceptional wines, the estate also illustrates a deep commitment to agro-ecology, with a “High Environmental Value” certification obtained in 2019 and a conversion to Organic Agriculture begun in 2021.

L’Ostal Rosé 2022 is more than just a wine. It’s an experience, an immersion in the Languedoc terroir, that will delight the palate as an aperitif or with delicate dishes such as gambas with basil and lemon or cannelloni with spinach. Available from wine merchants for 9/10 euros, it’s an invitation to discover the treasures of Languedoc.
