French sake brand Wakaze has announced the launch of three new exclusive cuvees in collaboration with chef Thierry Marx. This premium sake range is launched for the spring holidays and includes three unique flavors. Wakaze, which has already launched the Hero range and limited editions, continues to break down stereotypes around this often misunderstood alcoholic beverage, showcasing it in aperitifs and culinary accompaniments.
The collaboration between Wakaze and Thierry Marx was a natural one, given the chef’s affection for Japanese culture and his cuisine inspired by it. Both parties share a willingness to experiment and innovate, as well as a sensitivity to local production and consumption.
The sake range includes three bottles: Iconique, Magnifique and Unique. Each has a unique taste, ranging from clean and pure to a more pronounced citrus aroma and a more rustic, woody flavor. Thierry Marx has thought up specific culinary pairings for each flavor, revealing the full complexity and diversity of sake when it comes to pairing with French cuisine.
Wakaze founder Takuma Inagawa and cellar master Shoya Imai set up a sake brewery in France in 2019, and have since revolutionized the sake industry by using only local and 100% French products for their creations. Their aim is to democratize sake in France, Europe and around the world.
To discover these creations and immerse yourself in Japanese culture, you can visit the Wakaze Paris restaurant, located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris. The counter, with its flavours of the rising sun, allows you to taste sake from the tap in an authentic, convivial setting.
In short, the collaboration between Wakaze and Thierry Marx showcases the richness and diversity of sake, while proposing daring culinary pairings. The brand continues to innovate and break down stereotypes of this mysterious beverage, with the aim of democratizing it in France and around the world.
