Breguet pays tribute to the inventor Abraham-Louis Breguet by presenting the new Quantième perpétuel 7327 from the Classique collection. This watch reflects the essence of the brand: a timepiece that is simple to use for its wearer but complex in its realization. The self-winding movement with gold oscillating weight is off-center to allow maximum space for the movement’s main components. At 4.5 mm thick, the movement remains one of Breguet’s flattest. The Quantième perpétuel displays the exact date to infinity, taking into account the variable length of the months and the leap-year cycle. To accomplish this feat, the movement must have a mechanical “memory” of four years, or 1,461 days. The dial features Clous de Paris decoration, a reference to that found on timepieces created by Abraham-Louis Breguet, with a moon phase at 1:30 and a retrograde hand indicating the months. Breguet’s traditional eccentric, hollowed-out blued-steel “pomme” hands indicate the hours and minutes. Breguet’s secret signature is revealed between 11 and 12 o’clock and between 12 and 1 o’clock.
The movement, which can be admired through the sapphire caseback, highlights one of Breguet’s most cherished skills: decoration. The gold oscillating weight is hand-guilloché with a circular barley grain motif, the bridges feature Côtes de Genève, and the other components are finished with anglées and Côtes de Genève. The watch is available in 18K white or rose gold, with a midnight-blue bracelet for the white gold model and a mysterious brown bracelet for the rose gold version.
The Classique collection faithfully illustrates the codes of the brand’s origins. It embodies an avant-garde aesthetic vision while making the watch’s indications easy to read. The Quantième perpétuel 7327 is a contemporary incarnation that remains faithful to the strong signatures of the Classique line.
All in all, Breguet’s Quantième perpétuel 7327 is a fascinating timepiece that combines simplicity and complexity in its design. Its Clous de Paris decoration and hand-hammered moon phase add a touch of sophistication to a clean, easy-to-read dial. The Classique collection is a faithful illustration of the brand’s original codes, while the contemporary reinterpretation of the Quantième perpétuel 7327 proves that Breguet continues to innovate while remaining true to its roots.
