Domaine Grosbois presents its new Cuvée Glacière 2021, a fruity, silky Chinon that’s perfect for welcoming summer. This wine is made from a 2-hectare parcel of 100% Cabernet Franc, offering a fine promise of fruitiness. Available exclusively from the Domaine, this parcel-based Chinon appellation cuvée will be ideal to accompany your aperitifs or summer dinners.

The Glacière parcel is located at the foot of the slopes, on a sandy-clay terroir with a tendency towards limestone. The vines are farmed organically and biodynamically (Demeter), and receive special attention from brothers Nicolas and Sylvain Grosbois.

The 2021 vintage got off to a disturbed start, with frosts lasting 5 to 6 consecutive nights. However, the summer was very dry and hot, followed by good rainfall in September, enabling the vines to continue growing and the grapes to reach a good level of ripeness.

At Domaine Grosbois, the grapes are harvested by hand to select only the very best. All grapes are destemmed and carefully sorted on the sorting table. Vinification is carried out using indigenous yeasts, without sulfur, with only a slight addition at bottling, in compliance with the Vin Méthode Nature charter. After 15 days of maceration, the wine is aged for 6 months in concrete tanks to preserve the aromatic richness of the Cabernet Franc.

Cuvée Glacière 2021 opens with a nose of red fruits, complemented by spicy, licorice notes. On the palate, the texture is silky, the tannins frank but well integrated. Tasting reveals a complex, pulpy fruitiness of red fleshy fruits. The finish is fruity and silky, offering a fine interpretation of Chinon by brothers Nicolas and Sylvain Grosbois.

Cuvée Glacière 2021 is available exclusively from Domaine Grosbois for €12. It’s a great opportunity to discover this fruity, silky wine, the perfect accompaniment to summer evenings.
